The future is grim until four unlikely outcast brothers rise from the sewers and discover their destiny as Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Darkness has settled over New York City as Shredder (William Fichtner) and his evil Foot Clan have an iron grip on everything from the police to the politicians. There's a chance we still might see these characters pop up in the sequel coming in 2016, so we'll see if any major changes are made between now and then.
As for Krang, the suit has been updated to look more modern than previous iterations, but it's still pretty similar to original designs.
Teenage mutant ninja turtles 2014 concept art series#
They pretty much feel lifted straight from the animated series and comic books, with very little changes made, at least when it comes to Rocksteady and Beebop. Here's unused concept art for Krang, Rocksteady & Beebop from Aaron Sims Company (via ScreenRant):Īs you can see, these are pretty ultra-realistic versions of the characters, much like the new designs of the turtles (which also had some creepy alternate designs here and here). The casualties from those cuts meant that we didn't get to see new versions of well-known villains like Krang (and his exo-suit), and the duo of Rocksteady & Beebop, but now some concept art has surfaced. In fact, the original script for the first film actually had much more sci-fi craziness, but it ended up being rewritten and cut in favor of a simpler (or rather more stupid) storyline. With a sequel to this year's reboot of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles already set for release on June 3rd, 2016, there's no doubt we'll be seeing plenty more recognizable characters pop up from the comic books and animated series.
